Ravhuset - Rav Aages Museum

In the North Sea town of Thyborøn lies the small museum: Ravhuset.
Ravhuset is a unique enterprise initiated by Rav-Aage and continued by his son Bjarne Hansen, and it involves a fantastic amber exhibition of amber in all colours, shapes and sizes. The amber is between 35 and 200 million years old, which is why you will marvel at them because of the huge time perspective.

In addition, the museum depicts the story about Rav-Aage and his life, his amber and his environmental battle, for which he received the Knight's Cross in 1996.

This special story and lots of other local stories will be told by the charismatic Bjarne, who besides being an eminent amber-grinder is a down-to-earth and excellent storyteller.

The grindery
Bjarne also opens the door to the amber grindery, in which you can watch and learn how amber is processed and prepared for exhibition, where the product is jewellery, letter knives, figures etc.

Please come and visit Ravhuset in Thyborøn where you will have an exciting, educational and truly authentic experience.
