Høvlehuset

Situated close to the North Sea and not far from Blaavand, you will find a white reed-covered farm with blue-painted doors and windows that create the idyllic base for Høvlehuset.

The museum offers you the opportunity to delve into a historical collection of tools and effects from approx. 1700 to 1950.

Worth a visit - also for children
Although you might not be the biggest tool enthusiast, the museum is still worth a visit. You will be taken on a journey through time back to when it was a valued trade to create things with one’s hands - and you will you be reminded of earlier occupations that have fallen into oblivion. In addition to carpenters, cabinet makers and wheelwrights, there are also coopers, cobblers, saddlers, ship’s carpenters and bookbinders.

It is fascinating what the former artisans could produce without the help of advanced electronic machines. If you want to make as much out of your visit as possible, you should book a guided tour of the museum.

Key carving, sign engraving and kitchen knife sharpening
Høvlehuset does not only offer a historical retrospect and a delight to the eye. It is also possible to have keys made for various purposes, such as doors, caravans and vintage cars. Høvlehuset also engraves signs for mailboxes, doors, dogs and offers to grind your dull kitchen knives.
