Hald Lake and Dollerup Hills
Hald Lake is something special and the 1600-hectare area is protected. Each year approx. a quarter of a million people visit Hald Lake and Dollerup Hills. The landscape is very varied, and the area is also known as the “epicentre of Denmark’s ice age geology” as the ice age created both the valleys and the more than 31-meter-deep Hald Lake. The varied and very beautiful landscape with the deep lake, the purling brooks, the quiet forest and the vast heaths provide optimal conditions for a large variety of flora and fauna.
The area has been named “National Geological Area of Interest”, “EU habitat” and “Cultural Environment worthy of Protection”. The village Dollerup has been named “Village particularly worthy of Preservation”.
