Our Lady Church

The second biggest church of Funen in the centre of Assens.

Odense's Cathedral is the highest church on Funen, but after the Our Lady Church of Assens is the second highest. The church was built in 1488 in Gothic style. The Holevad chappel in the north and the squared base of the tower (from 1285) are ruins from a Romanesque church.

A distinctive trait of this church is the 48 metre high, octagon spire, which in Denmark can only be found at one other place: the church of Kalundborg.
