Blåbjerg Klitplantage

At Blåbjerg Klitplantage nature is paramount. Here, a beautiful scenery with hills, heaths, plantations and dunes. In the plantation red deer live, which you can sometimes be lucky enough to see. In 1993, they started planting a new forest that will consist of oak growth. The forest will be 130 hectares big.

History

The name of the plantation comes from the blue mountain, which is the country's highest dune with its 64 meters above the water. The mountain served back in time as a beacon, because it could be seen from a long distance from sea. The color blue enters the name, since it remotely resembles a big blue mountain. From the mountain there is a beautiful view over large parts of southwestern Jutland. On the mountain, a stone has been built in memory of Thyge de Thygeson, who worked as a chamberlain. From 1861-1899 he was head of the dune authority, and he is therefore firmly placed on the high dune in memory and honor of him.

Facilities

There are parking spaces at the plantation along the coast. The plantation provides fine walking, riding and cycle paths for the active. The routes in the plantation are marked with colors. However, many of the trails are narrow and a bit bumpy and are therefore not recommended for wheelchairs, prams and the disabled. On the other hands the trails are suitable for mountain biking. In the plantation, there are also table/bench-sets and a toilet that can be used for free.

Dog forest

In Blåbjerg Klitplantage there is also a dog forest. This dog forest is fenced so dogs can move without concern from the owners. The forest offers lovely scenery and lots of space to romp about for both the dog and its owners.
