The Blåvand – Ho area

Out west – well, as far out west as you can possibly get in Denmark you encounter Blåvandshuk. Here towers the majestic lighthouse that guides sailors past the coast at night, and by day keeps an eye on the area round Blåvand-Ho, an area which ranks among the most beautiful areas in Denmark. Something for everyone
Man, woman, teen or child – in Blåvand-Ho you’ll find that there’s something for everyone. For example, you could visit some of the exquisite menswear and women’s clothing stores, shop for a new pair of running shoes, buy some yarn for your next knitting project or purchase a piece of jewelry as a souvenir. When you get tired of shopping, simply settle down at one of the charming sidewalk cafes and enjoy a cold beer or a cup of coffee while you feel the buzz of the town. In the area of Blåvand-Ho you can also be sure to find both well-stocked supermarkets and small specialty shops where you can buy local delicacies. Should you wish
to enjoy a meal at a local restaurant, the area features a wide range of possibilities, from Italian pizza to Danish gourmet food.

Roaring seas and interesting culture
It’s not only sidewalk cafes and clothes shops that attract tourist to the area every year. On the contrary, the natural environment is in itself an attraction with its wild nature, beautiful ocean and white beaches. Experience a truly magnificent view of the North Sea and the surrounding area of Blåvand-Ho from the lighthouse Blåvandshuk Fyr. From the lighthouse, you can walk down to the beach and take a look at the German “mule bunkers” made by the artist Bill Woodrow. And, since you’re already at the beach, you should take a walk on the oldest bathing bridge of North Sea and, if you’re in the mood for it, go for a swim. Afterwards,
you could take a trip to the wonderful woods that stretch along the peninsula Skallingen. Here you can enjoy some peace and quiet while you gaze at The Wadden Sea in the background. If you want to add some cultural experiences to your day, you should visit the museum Tirpitz where you’ll get blown away by the stunning architecture and unique settings. Alternatively, you can take your loved ones by the hand and watch the white lions at the zoo.

Get your heartbeat racing
If you’re interested in some cardio, you’ll find that there are ample opportunities in the area of Blåvand-Ho. For example, you could go for a run in the woods or at the beach, rent a bike or spend an afternoon on horseback. The area also offers a variety of golfing experiences or, if you’re searching for an extra adrenalin boost, you should definitely try some the area’s many mountain bike tracks. If you’re looking to include the children as well, mini-golf or bowling are obvious choices, but a visit to the public pool or the forest playground might also be fun.

Denmark’s westernmost point is more than a towering lighthouse: it’s a truly lovely area where you find excellent shopping and food experiences as well as wild nature and interesting culture. In other words, there’s something for everyone.
