Historicenter Dybbøl Banke

Historicenter Dybbøl Banke is an experience centre that takes you back to the dramatic days of the war in 1864. Become a part of the most important battle in Danish history as the thunder from the cannons mixes with the screams from the wounded soldiers. Move around the historically accurate entrenchment and have a look in the barracks where the soldiers would rest between battles.

See the unique building, created by the architects Ernst Lohse and Michael Freddie, with its crooked and leaning surfaces that are meant to give the feeling of war and chaos. Dybbøl Banke welcomes you to an amazing experience with stories, enactments, weapon demonstrations, films, food and much more. You are guaranteed a unique insight into the war of 1864 and the everyday life of the soldiers.

You can also visit Dybbøl Mill which is an important part of history as it was the centre of violent battles in both 1848-1849 and 1864. During both Schleswig wars the mill was destroyed and later rebuilt.
