Skærum Mill (Skærum Mølle)

In the heart of the wonderful and magnificent landscape in West Jutland – right where Lilleå meets Storeå – lies Skærum Mill (Skærum Mølle) whose history dates all the way back to the Middle Ages. In the course of time Skærum Mill has belonged under Tvis Monestary (Tvis Kloster) as well as the manor Nørre Vosborg.

Museum

Several of the buildings at Skærum Mill function as a museum today – among these the small forge at the Tile Works as well as the old Grocery (Den Gamle Brugs).

At Skærum Mill you’ll also find the Per Kirkeby House with its characteristic cupola. The building was designed by the artist Per Kirkeby with the purpose of functioning as a setting for the amateur geologist Carlo Møller’s extensive stone collection - donated to the centre in the middle of the 1980s. Today, the Per Kirkeby House also functions as an observatory and is a notable landmark in the area.

Folkeuniversitetscenteret

The beautiful buildings are also the frame for Folkeuniversitetscenteret which conveys the methods and results of scientific research. Here, everyone is welcome to attend lectures, seminars and excursions, where scientists and others with expert knowledge present their work and results.

The centre addresses subjects from all fields within humanities, theology, natural science and social science. The subjects are conveyed by experts from universities and research institutes.
