Bovbjerg Lighthouse

The 26-meter high, red lighthouse is located on a Bovbjerg cliff near Lemvig. It was built around 1876 and was ignited for the first time in 1877. Apart from the incredible view from the lighthouse, there is also a café, a shop, an art exhibition and a historical exhibition.

Café and shop
Every day, the café at the Bovbjerg Lighthouse offers homemade cakes and freshly brewed coffee, which is nice after a tour in the lighthouse. Afterwards it is possible to go on a small tour in the the local shop, which offers:

  • Local art
  • Books
  • Postcards
  • Jewellery
  • Horn products
  • Gift items
  • Homemade delicacies
  • Souvenirs

Art exhibition
Every month, there is a new art exhibition in Bovbjerg Lighthouse. The art style therefore varies because new artists are chosen by the voluntary committee every month. There are usually between 6-8 artists who exhibit their works every month. These artists are a great mix between amateurs and experienced artists, who therefore give the exhibition their own character.

Historical exhibition
Because of the history of the area, there is a narrative workshop called "Fyrforstand" near the lighthouse. Here many stories are exhibited, so you can get a fascinating insight into the surroundings of the lighthouse. This includes, among other things, stories from the churches and the artist life at Bovbjerg.
